This handbook draws heavily on the Education Cluster Coordination Handbook (2010) and the FAO Cluster Coordination Guidance (2010) which, in turn, drew on the Health Cluster Guide (2009) and the WASH Cluster Coordination Handbook (2009). Much of the present draft is adapted from those documents and the global Food Security Cluster (gFSC) is grateful to have been able to benefit from the valuable work done by the global Education, Health and WASH clusters and FAO, complementing the general clusterrelated guidance issued by the IASC. This not only reduces unnecessary duplication of effort but also means that there is general consistency in the guidance provided to country-level staff implementing the cluster approach in different sectors.
