CALL FOR APPLICANTS - IPC Food Security Officer - Deadline 15 February 2017

The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) is a global, multi-partner innovative initiative to facilitate decision-making with improved food security analysis. The IPC is set of tools and protocols for classifying the severity and nature of food insecurity that integrates food security, nutrition and livelihood information into a clear statement about the nature and severity of food insecurity and implications for response. Given the quick uptake and wide use of IPC, there is a need to ensure:
• Adequate IPC GSU surge capacity support to countries for IPC Acute training and analyses and systematic support to the roll-out of the newly developed tools for classification of Chronic Food Insecurity in up to 30 countries in 2017.
• The quality of IPC Acute and IPC Chronic analyses and their compliance with IPC protocols, through both real time quality reviews based on countries’ request/need and retroactive quality reviews - up to nine are planned for 2017.
• Quality IPC Technical reports both at global and country level that contribute to informing decision-making.
• Relevant Strategies at country level to achieve IPC consolidation.
We are looking for:
The IPC Global Support Unit is looking for an IPC Food Security Officer to support key priorities in the implementation of the IPC Acute and Chronic Food Insecurity Classifications in up to 30 countries in 2017 as well as development of strategies to increase the quality and use of IPC products. The consultant will be based in Rome, Italy, or other location, with an 11-month contract.
